Yeah, I suspect I may be overly paranoid about breaking things

Default Disagree, I ran stage 2 for 40k miles, did only 710n's for diverter valves, never blew a TBB.

Wasn't that expensive, used exhaust. Get a used ECU with your favorite A flavor (AWE/GIAC, APR, ASP). He doesn't have to go whole hog (buy a second ECU with multiple programs to swap in/out when going back to the dealer for warranty stuff). Assume that he is not under warranty.

Don't kid youself - suspension ain't necessarily cheap either.

And he never gave a budget anyway ;-)

Perhaps a bit harsh lol. His suggestions were valid, although his fears/concerns were overblown.

Default For just a straight up chip, APR or GIAC are the most common choices. GIAC's a bit faster, APR's a

bit safer/easier on the turbos. I'd go GIAC.

Way over the top and completely inappropriate. There's no need for this.

Default Many flaws in that argument. Don't believe all the hype.

I've been chipped with stock exhaust for over 60k miles now. No sandblaster noise, no turbo problems, I haven't had to replace DVs since I chipped (replaced them when I was still stock with new OEM DVs about 100k miles ago).
