clear corner mod question/problem...
when i did it last week, i left two screws out. you can guess which two those are. i tried to put them in the other day and ended up dropping one and now its stuck somewhere in there. so two questions...
1. does it really matter if i do leave that 3rd screw out?
2. how do i get the screw i dropped out? how to take off the plastic cover on the bottom?

Ahh, the infamous '3rd' screw on the headlight housing...
I've seen an A4 with only the 2 front screws on the housing, and the owner says he has no problems. I wouldn't like to run w/o it since (a) there's a chance the entire housing will rattle, and (b) there's no way to guarantee that the housing sits flush with the sheetmetal...but it's your decision
Go to an autoparts store and get one of those gooseneck magnetic devices...as long as it's over a foot long, you should be able to reach down there and get the screw back

Tap your cover from underneath, the screw will drop out (I had to do it twice)
To keep it from happening again, tape (using masking tape) the screw to the end of your socket assembly.. then once the screw is in, the tape will tear free when you remove the socket.

Get yourself a flexible plunger-style four claw retreiver tool. I use mine to pull out/put in ...
those pesky third screws. You can get it at Sears. It's a long, flexible tube (only 1/8 or 3/16" thick) with a plunger mechanism at top that opens or closes four claws at bottom. Great for grasping screws and other lost bits in tough places.
