Default Clunk in front subframe....On/Off throttle....scratches near subframe mounts...NEED YOUR HELP!

OK, so I've had this odd clunking in my drivetrain for quite some time now. My initial thought was the motor mounts, so i swapped them out with OEM RS4 mounts. Next, I thought it was the rear diff so I changed that mount.

Still getting the dreaded clunk when on/off throttle and its driving me nuts!!!

So i went under the car and had a good look-around. I noticed scratch marks on the painted chassis near where the front subframe mounts to the chassis. It appears as if the 2 rear mounts on the subframe are allowing for the subframe to move up and down. this would explain the clunks Ive been having.

So is it possible that both these mounts failed? Are they replace-able? Or is it possible that the bolts are just loose? I tried tightening them by hand and then would not budge. Can i fix this by shimming them out with washers and re-tightening, or do I need to replace some mounts?

I'm sure someone out there has had the same problem....please help, I am in deperation to get this fixed ASAP.

Thank you in advance!!!

Are you talking about the transmission mounts? Those are easily replaced.

Default no....they appear to be fine (not leaking) I have RS4 tranny mounts on my desk....

Default Install of trans mounts takes less than an hour- two if you are really slow.

Also- my on/off clunk got worse when I added a rear diff mount.

I have ASP street trans and motor mounts, an ASP trans stab, Apikol rear sub frame and diff mount (I think that is it). I think when you stiffen everything up this much something has to give and my rear diff is what thumps occasionally.

Default the rear diff only thunps when going over big bumps on highway.....

front end is clunking every single on/off throttle and every on/off clutch (unless i do it very sloly)

is it possible for the subframe mouts to have gone bad? or is it most likely the tranny mounts?

Default I guess they could go bad , but since you have the trans mounts I try those first...

it is amazing how much the trans mounts transmit into the cabin. I found that they dampened/transmitted much more vibration into the car than the engine mounts did.

I had originally installed the ASP comp mount inserts. When I swapped the trans mounts it made a much greater difference then the motor mounts did.
