When I slow down to turn, or for a light to around 5-15MPH and then give it gas, I get this huge clunking and kick from the car. It kind of feels like the brakes were locked or that the transmition is messed up. Has anyone experienced this?

you can VAG and determine which one is reading the different speed from the others, but you have to go at a low speed to do so. Cleaning is a simple DIY job.

I was thinking that the pistons weren't pulling away from the pad and if you had slotted rotors, that would explain the clicking and sensation of the brakes catching.
