Default cluster swap 6 spd to tip?

ok im sick of searching and reading unrelated threads. im planning on having my cluster repaired soon but i dont want to be without the car. so im trying to source a temporary cluster on the cheap. i just want to confirm that i can swap in a cluster from a tip car into a 6spd car on a temporary basis. i do not have a real vag-com so i cant reprogram anything atm.

No reprogram needed other than ESP in some cases. The clusters are interchangable. As long as you are plugging in another S4 cluster you are fine. The only problem you might have is installing an ESP programmed cluster (2001+) into a non ESP car.. or the other way around.. You'll know because your tachometer will not work. So if you have a 2000 S4 and installing a spare cluster from another 2000 S4 you will be fine without any recode.
