Default Clutch clunk => now can't shift. I'm slowing to stop at a light and press the clutch pedal and I

hear a pop/clunk and i can't shift out of gear! the clutch is disengaged because i'm not stalling, but i can't get the shift lever into neutral.

turn car off. and i can shift into neutral. i can also shift into other gears. turn car on and it's the same thing again. no grinding of gears. just can't move the shift lever.

drove home in 2nd gear pissing off other motorists.

so the clutch seems to engage/disengage w/ the pedal, but i can only move the shift lever w/ the car off. (i was able to muscle the car into neutral, but not back into gear)

any thoughts? clutch broken? tranny issue? all of the above?

i've been STFA, but haven't found anything similar yet. thanks!

Default sounds like when you put down the clutch pedal, nothing actually happens to the clutch

Default rpms drop so it's disengaging? i can release the pedal and it will re-engage. just can't

shift.

maybe not disengaging enough?

Default could be a bad slave cylinder.(EDIT)

not sure though......
actually, after reading your post again, it sounds tranny related, not clutch related.....damn man, if you have to pull that tranny, make sure you get a 4:1 Torsen.
