Default Clutch Hunting...

If you read up here I've determined that I need a new clutch. I know to stay away from SPEC and I think an OEM RS4 setup will work well for me as I pile on more mods over the next year. On the top end, how much hp do you guys think an RS4 clutch can take? I'd really love to do ECS Stage 3, but that's just too much cash for me right now, considering I just purchased the S4 and am in the middle of doing brakes on the A8.

OEM S4 Clutch kit would be around $400 from some parts warehouses.
OEM RS4 Clutch kit is $500 from ECS, and most likely that price at other vendors.

Labor isn't an issue. A friend has a lift and tools and for a case Coors it's mine for a day.

ECS Stage 3 is a highly modified RS4 clutch according to their site... what do you mean "modded"?

Default No this is Mike Staley, not Mike Shimon :o)

Piggie fabricates a lot of other stuff and knits his own sweaters, but not clutches yet

Default Who is this Mike Staley, and how much for this modded S4 clutch disk...

Since the only difference between RS4 and S4 clutches is the pressure plate, anyway...

i believe clutches are rated for torque, not HP.

Default Sounds like the RS4 can take a decent amount of abuse as long as you are NOT Stage 3. If you will ..

be eventually, the RS4 seems to be hit or miss.

Some people have RS4 clutches on Stage 3's and beat it mercilessly without slippage.
