I am going to install a Clutch Masters Stage 1 clutch in my car in a few days. I have never pulled the tranny before. I have read the Bentley manual closley.
Are there any tips or trouble spots I should be aware of while doing the install? Anything that Bentley does not mention or parts of the job that are particularly difficult? Anything to watch out for?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for yor input.

I used an old generic bit to loosen the driveshaft bolts and stripped one out. It took me awhile to grind the bolt head off with a dremel tool. The driveshaft bolts have loctite on them and are tough to break loose. Be sure your ratchet bits are new, or are in very good condition.
Due to the tightness of everything in the engine bay.. there are plenty of trouble spots.

Thanks Dave.
I haven't checked that out yet.
Are the rear drive shaft to tranny bolts the splined cap screws or regular metric hex cap screws? I know the ones on the front half shafts are splined. I have already removed one of them without much difficulty using the proper splined wrench. Although they are not locktited like the rear shaft is.
How hard was it to remove the nuts on the front of the CAT flanges that are bolted to the turbo outlets? Exhaust bolts have always been a PIA in my experience. That is one area that worries me somewhat. Did you have difficulty there?

The downpipe to turbo nuts will be much easier with "Craftsman 7 pc. Locking Flex Ratcheting Wrench Set SAE ". I have the generic brand that sears sold before they had them available under the craftsman brand name. In my opinion, anyone who works on their audi should have a set. They're nice to have.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

If I recalll, the driveshaft bolts are regular allen head. Here's a set of "Craftsman 6 pc. Hex Bit Socket Set, Metric "

The splined bolts are called triple square. Here's a set of "SK 4 Pc 3/8" & 1/2" Drive Metric Triple Square Bit Socket Set" I don't have this set so you may want to verify the required size.
