Default Clutch, pressure plate, something else?

I think someone on this board warned me before about letting my wife drive my S4, but I'm a slow learner. She was driving the car and it wouldn't go into any gear. I drove the car, and the clutch pedal is very heavy and it's hard to put in gear (with the engine running or off). I did get it in gear and drove it back and forth in the driveway (1st and reverse) and it drove fine when I could get it into gear, but it was difficult to put into gear. Before this problem, I had noticed that the clutch didn't feel right (heavy pedal, engagement seemed less smooth that it used to). Thoughts?

Default With the clutch pedal pressed, car in gear, and engine running...does it try to roll (clutch drag)?

Symptom I had when my PP was busted.

Any grindy noises when putting in gear or changing gears?

If it lets you into a gear, it doesn't make any ugly noises (or any noise). But, if you are stopped, push in the clutch and it's not going into gear, there is a grinding noise. It is not as loud or ugly as when you grind the gears (e.g. blow a shift).
