While I generally find that the S4 rides very well for my commuter car, here's what it does not handle well: uneven/wavy roads -- the S4 tends to toss you around a good bit on these roads (enough to make the ride unpleasant). The S4 does, however, handle rough/bumpy roads well and is more tolerable on those than my FWD '96 A4 did (I think that all quattros handle bumpier roads better because of the extra weight). Now, if the road is really uneven/dippy, then the S4 feels better because the tight suspension, while throwing you around, does not bottom out after a long travel resulting in a harder jolt like would happen with a softer suspension having more travel; instead the S4 just rides the dip all of the way down and all of the way back up in a smooth and controlled fashion (but you do still go down and up -- it just feels controlled; not reactionary like a car that is bottoming out its suspension travel).
