For the last two days I have smelled what I thought was radiator fluid or coolant, but had not noticed anything abnormal in the water temperature gauge or leakage.

Today, as I pulled into work, I noticed that the needle was just a hair to the hot side of the middle hash mark. I let the car cool like normal and left it.

When I returned to my car this evening, there was a puddle of the red-colored coolant under the car. I turned it on and the coolant symbol immediately started to blink. I drove home slowly and the temp stayed directly in the middle, like normal.

Obviously, I have a leak somewhere. Is this a fairly regular occurrence? Unfortunately, it's now the weekend and I won't be able to get the car into the shop until Monday.

What can I add? The manual specifies some special coolant available through Audi. Can I get it elsewhere?

BTW, it's an '02 with 10,500 miles.

just keep an eye on the coolant level under the hood, make sure it doesn't drop too low.
