coolant smell when i come to a stop

check the after run pump under the intake manifold, they go bad and i think 2000 b5 had em also,

Am I going to have to do any surgery to get to it? Haha. Any tips on where to start?

If you have no heat, air has been introduced to the cooling system. Check all of your sensors and connections for leaks.

Once everything is gravy, I would flush the system and then refill and bleed the heater core.
