cooling fan removal

did you take the front clip off? i just put my fan back on today and it was 5 10mm bolts and unhook the wire next to the power steering fluid reservoir. not sure what special audi tool you are talkin about

yea the front clip is off, it says i need to use some chopstick tool... so you didnt take off the large nut behind the fan? you took of the small screws on the actual fan?

relatively small amounts of oil in the Intercooler hoses is normal. Like a couple of spoon fulls or something, it's kinda hard to say what is exactly normal. Just as long as it isnt "too much" it is fine.

I took the plastic fan blade off and then used and oil filter wrench (the cloth belt style) to hold the clutch fan mechanism while turning the nut (remember its left-hand thread). Came off fairly easy.
