Default Could a broken/damaged ECT cause bad gas mileage?...

I've only been getting about 200 mi before the light comes on and I don't push my car too hard, not always that is.

Default Yes. A bad EGT sensor could as well.

But the coolant temp sensor is MUCH cheaper and easier to replace so try that first.

Default The only codes i'm getting are:

16502 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Signal too High

I am not getting any EGT fault codes.

Same code mine threw when my CTS went out. I also had bad gas mileage. Very cheap and easy fix.

Well, I've got the same code, and I'm starting to get poor gas mileage. So, I'd say yes

Default Considering I hit a deer a short while after & the car has been sitting while I get my Stg3

parts together I'd say the mileage is EXCELLENT! jk jk

All jokes aside I would say that my gas mileage did improve by at least 10mpg after the CTS change but mine was terrible when I changed it.

Default It's a $5-10 part.

O2 sensors, and EGT sensors could also be suspect, but they are a LOT more than the CTS, and harder to replace.

Replace the CTS first...if that doesn't fix the issue, then worry about what's next.
