Well, I had ordered an s4, but just didnt feel like waiting for months on end. They had a silver/ onyx loaded 6 speed on the lot...so, I went for it. Got them to take 1000 off msrp (Los Angeles ya know!)Plus the car came with potenzas-they're gonna swap the Bridgestones for Pirellis which are on another unsold s4 on the lot. So, I will pick up my baby on Monday once that is done...cant wait for it! Car has 37 miles on it, just arrived at the dealor...hmmmmm...963 mile break-in...
Again, thanks so much to the folks on this board for your enthusiasm and knowledge of this awesome car.

Good move on removing the Potenzas. I had a flat from a cut at the very top of the sidewall after 3-4 days and no way to avoid paying for it.
On the break in it is amazing how many little curves there are in the North East that you can have fun on below 70mph. .
Just don't stay at a steady speed - which is easy in "settled areas" as they like to say on signs around Boston.
Have a blast,<p>2001, Silver/Onyx, Aging Zoomer, 25% Tint

My '01 manual says the break-in period is 1000 mi, but you can start working into higher revs and a bit more throttle from 600 to 1000. Me, I'm parked at 990 right now. Hitting 1K on the way home from work tonight.
I'm not planning to hit it too hard right of the bat at 1000 mi. These things aren't binary, you know... I'll probably start pushing a bit harder, but I'm not going to hit it real hard (take it to the track) until after the first oil change...when I'm positive it's got Mobil 1 in it.

I live in Cambridge, am an A4 2.8 Avant (totalled)->Passat V6 Wagon->Future S4 Avant owner, and would love some tips on where to have fun.
