Default My 300ZX experience through the years...

I just prefer tunes near 11.5:1. I'm not saying that 12:1 isn't safe. I'm just more conservative. This isn't my first turbo car. I've seen a lot of tuning through the years with the 300ZX (I have 3 of them) and some over the past couple with the S4.

Anyway, Al knows me well. I'm sure he gave Mark whatever instructions he felt necessary. I gave no specific instructions on what I was looking for as far as air/fuel goes. Perhaps one of them will chime in if they see this. There may be a particular reason they aim for 11:1 on Al's dyno too. I'm not sure. But I know there is more room. It's very obvious there is. But I'm married to this car for the next few years so it's nice to see these numbers with a relatively conservative tune. This car was done correctly. We did everything while the car was apart. And the results definitely show.

Nothing wrong with not running on the edge.

Default nice job...

you are making about 10+ more whp than me with my custom tune via CPT and ASP. im running a bit more boost but a slight deviation in my AFR from yours.

hope you enjoy it! here my 2 plots:

Default Cool...

Nice to have for a comparison...

It would be nice to see what this car would do at a couple more psi. But I like that there's some safety margin here and it still put down strong numbers. I'm happy. :-)

Default This may not interest you at all, but I think experimenting with a leaner mixture via Lemmiwinks...

or Unisettings could be a valuable experience for you. You could log (preferably with APR ECU Explorer, which somebody local to you probably has) with a baseline of ~11:1, pull primary fuel (-3 to -5%) to get ~11.5:1 and log the results, then pull even more primary fuel (-7 to -10%) to get ~12:1 and log those results.

If you see gains and like how things look/feel, you can leave it be at either of those other settings. If you prefer how it is now, you can always return the settings to default. You will do no harm whatsoever by doing these tests. And if you don't want to log, it's really not essential that you do so. You may simply want to test your butt dyno on how it feels.

I understand not wanting to run at the ragged edge, but you're nowhere near. It's not a matter of running more aggressivly, but running more optimally. At the very least, I'd say you're most likely better off with a mid 11 AFR. There cannot be any justification to run low 11s / high 10s with that boost on OEM K04s and 93 octane or better. You're simply wasting fuel and potentially holding power back IMO. This is coming from somebody who has spent the better part of the last year tuning their own OEM K04 car.

Default Same to you, Meraj...

At least you run a pretty nice boost curve, but still...

Default thanks for the info, jd...

i will pull some fuel with lemmi and do a couple of runs to log to see the difference.

wish i had a legit wideband installed on the car too really confirm the changes.

Default Sweet...Looking forward to the results! Maybe clear codes in VAG after each change to primary...

could allow this be to adapt better and more quickly.
