Default Crimp Clamp Question #2

Theoretically speaking.

If, while removing the vacuum hose from the stock driver's side BPV, the crimp clamp came flying off and dropped into the engine bay right in front of the intake 'Y' and behind where the BPV installs ("behind" is closer to the firewall) is there a chance of damage to the car by running it? (i.e. it will possibly drop onto a belt or something)

Theoretically, of course!! ;-)

Default No worries. :)

That little crimp isn't gonna blow up your engine. I dropped one too. No biggie.
I told you they were a PIA. They even frustrate you when they are finally OFF the damn hose.

Default Pull hoses off before removing clamps.

The instructions that came with my Bailey Valves said to wiggle or pry the hoses off with the clamps on, then they are easier to pull off. It took me some work, but I was able to get the hoses before removing tghe clamp. You have to be careful not to pull the hoses too hard, just wiggle them off.

Default i did remove the hose before removing the clamp. i don't see how you can do it any other way, right?

i loosened the clamp and then pulled with, apparently, too much vigor.

ok, maybe the clamp was too loosened up! =)

the passenger side vacuum hose which was all thick rubber was a cinch. it was that rubber covered with braided cr@p driver's side that caused me untold grief . . .

Default Where to get replecement fror crappy stock braided hose?

I screwed up the braided hose & had to cut it. Luckily it still stretched to connect properly. Then my smallest ear clamp (bought from McMaster-Carr) was too big, but it crimped tight anyway. Thoaught I was going to have to stay home the next day. Anyone know where to get a non-stock replacement for that crappy braided hose?

Default Get the OEM hose from the dealer. It is much better than anything PepBoys has.

sold by the meter I think, like $12m.

if they got the non-braided passenger side one in long lengths too, use that.

Default I replaced the stock bpv with bosch 110 last night and found:

the driverside vaccum hose is not oem. it has a crappy nylon around it but the passender side was rubber with audi logo.
dealership replaced bpv a few months ago.

Default i think that nylon braided driver's side hose is OEM. at least i've got it too. it's also the same

type of hose that you'd need to tap into in the back of the engine bay in you're hooking up a boost gauge.
