Crosspost: My drive home (minimal S4 content)...
Well, here is my road.
First bend...can be taken at 90+mph but on rare occasions there's a cop sitting at the cutout around this turn with radar.
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v6/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0615-or.jpg">
Now the short straight and the kink...the road undulates here and you have to set up for a right hander so I have never actually taken the time to LOOK at the speedo here. Note all the skid marks coming out of the cutout...motorcycle guys sit here and do runs up and down the hill but they aren't fast enough:
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v4/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0616-or.jpg">
Here's the sweep of the curve and the last cutout (where one waits if they even remotely see a car ahead)...bouncey bouncey and the car not only hits the undulations but gets light so it's a bit dodgey:
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v2/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0617-or.jpg">
The braking zone for turn 1...gotta line up right on the white line because the road is narrow.
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v7/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0618-or.jpg">
Nice decreasing radius turn and if you look at the marks on the curb, you can see where I hit the curb in Cheng's S4 one dark night. I pulled 1.2 lateral G in this turn once.
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v4/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0619-or.jpg">
Short chute here with a nice sweep...can hit about 75 before braking for the incredibly sharp right-hander:
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v2/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0620-or.jpg">
Here's the braking zone for the right hander aka "turn 2":
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v7/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0621-or.jpg">
Here's the entry to the turn...another decreasing radius turn...the best apex speed for these turns is around 45mph with entry at about 60 and exit at about 60. Because I'm driving 20mph while holding the digicam, I'm nowhere near a proper line here...a late apex is CRUCIAL because this is one place where botching the turn will land you head-on into the wrong side of the road:
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v2/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0622-or.jpg">
The exit of that turn...nice sweeper with a nearly identical setup as "turn 1":
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v4/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0623-or.jpg">
Yep, that's turn 3...looks EXACTLY like turn 1:
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v6/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0624-or.jpg">
Another late apex and penalty for early apexing is hitting a curb on the exit:
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v5/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0625-or.jpg">
Dash up to the kink...this is a good place to have torque:
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v2/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0626-or.jpg">
Approaching the kink...the actual turn has pretty rough pavement but opens back up so it's a good place to snooker someone. Once I caught up to an F360 going down the hill and he lost it coming out of the kink and crashed into the hillside backwards and totalled his car.
There are several fatalities a year on this road (disproportionately motorcycles and bicycles).
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v5/photos/4/41918/138038/DSCN0627-or.jpg">
After that I'm about home.

Here's one of the nicest places to drive near me...

not to mention the roller coaster...
Going into Portaguese Bend...I crashed a motorcycle on this rise (it's a landslide and at the time was nearly verticle) going the other direction.

Or by the lighthouse...that rise and curve rock except for the cops that hide in the cutouts without their radars on:

Yeah, Portuguese is fun (in the right vehicle)...
used to take my mom's Exploder in high school and see how much air I could get off the first drop (southbound). Also, Hawthorne going down towards the lighthouse can be fun too, going to sit here for awhile thinking of all the good ones in PV now.
