Curious, what's the fine for having a radar detector in VA?

Either he's lying or has met two of the shadiest cops in VA. They can't do that.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be keeping it in next time as well. And if a cop asks me to run over my V1,

his foot better not be anywhere nearby!

One catch...

there is a radar detector detector out there that can pick up the V1. I'm not sure how often VA State Police use these contraptions, but it's conceivable that they would know you're using a V1, even if you were being sly about it. Still worth the risk imho, but I just thought I would throw that out there.

My wife got pulled over for one (this is 6 years ago, though). She got

a minimal fine, no points, and the detector wasn't confiscated (possibly because she was up front about having/using the detector). Definitely worth using it IMHO.
