Anyone else have SIMULTANEOUS failures on BOTH
front boots? What causes this? Does it just wear out?
Has anyone heard of any chronic problems with them?
I just noticed them today-but how catastrophic could it have been? I just had my tip-tronic transmission replaced about 5500 miles ago-could the replacement
process have caused fatigue or stress in them?
How much can I expect to be paying?
Any help or insight would be appreciated!

I woke up one morning-with 50081 miles on the odometer, and the car began bucking and shifting on it's own. This happened both in automatic AND tip-tronic mode. I stopped immediately and had it towed by flatbed to my local Audi dealer.
I was a bit frazzled as it appeared I would be footing the bill- by a mere 81 miles.....tureds out AUDI was in a giving mood and covered me on that one. Good thing, too as the bill came to about $9000.
The strangest thing about the tranny going was that there was no apparent warning-no intermittent slippage -it just decided to take a dump one morning.
I now take it easy on the TIP mode. I leave it in auto unless I really need to get on it. Hope the new one is good for more than 50K!

I was in chipped mode, as I am most of the time.
I switched to stcok befor eit arrived at the Audi Service Center. I can change to stock on the cruise control, but I generally do that only when the girlfriend drives the car
or I valet.
2000 Tip-tronic S4
Black inside and out.
APR ECU and cat-back exhaust
K&N Air Filter
Goodyear Eagle F1's on stock Avus wheels
RS4 grille-the only change to appearance
