Default Cylinder 5 misfires continuously at idle...

No misfire DTCs, but block 16 cylinder 5 counter increments about once every 5 seconds at idle with AC off, once per second with AC on.

I swapped coils and power output stages. Haven't looked at the spark plug yet.

Some messages here imply this is normal, but cylinders 1-4 and 6 never show anything other than 0, so it seems like cylinder 5 is "different", unless the detection algoritm is inclined towards false positives on cylinder 5.

Default check the plug, possible

causes from Bentley

Spark plug faulty
Spark plug connector faulty
Ignition coil or power output stage faulty
Fuel injector faulty
Check compression of one or more cylinder weak

how many miles do you have on the plugs?

Default Check your gap and make sure that the coil clicks down on the plug

You might have to unscrew the top of the plug a bit for the coil to make a better connection.

Default hmm. I thought it seemed more like "spring-loaded" and held down by the 2 coil screws....

Does it actually "snap" onto the top of the plug?

BTW: What size socket does the spark plug use?
