Dealer told me Audi only does oil change (no filter) at 24K service! I had to pay for the filter...

And no filter at 24K sounds bogus to me, without reading the owners manual. My recollection is every 8K miles, oil AND filter for MY00 S4.

if I assume your 24K service is for the "Oil Change" they specify at 25K. It seems they will change the oil filter at:
1) First "Oil Change" service (8K miles or 6 months)
2) Every "Maintenance Service" interval therafter.
The "Maintenance Service" visits start at 16K miles or after 12 months of ownership (whichever occurs first) and every 10K miles thereafter (with no more than a year between these).
During the "Oil Changes" between the 10K "Maintenance Service" intervals don't say that the filter is replaced.
