Decided to be a guinea pig and tried the Duplicolor spray-on "Shield" the other day (more)
This stuff works as advertised, but it doesn't offer the protection of a real bra or a clear bra. It's just a thin layer of spray-on film that will withstand rain and small debris, but it will not protect against larger pieces.
It did wash right off with car wash detergent and seems safe for the paint.
Not a bad product for $5. I used probably < 1/10 of the can to cover my bumper and hood.<ul><li><a href="http://www.duplicolor.com/products/shield.html">Duplicolor Shield</a></li></ul>
