Default No, I wouldn't put the stands there period.

My father has those pinch welds on his car, and the dealer has bent all four of them. The Audi pinch welds are a little stronger...but I'm not comfortable leaving the car raised on stands on those points. They are going to give eventually, and when they do, you'll probably have a good deal of body damage to deal with. You're better off using a flat (and strong) surface to mate with the top of the stand.

Good point, but don't you think that putting them right next to those seams would rip them out too?

Default Stick your head under there...

There is a flat aree just behind the pinch welds. It's plenty strong, and the jackstands should just fit on those areas. A horizontal surface will give you more lateral stability than a vertical surface of the same thickness. You do need lateral stability when raising and lowering the car.
