As I've said before I still think the new S4 will be the 2.9TT 6spd instead of the 4.2 V8. One reason is Audi won't put a standard tranny in a V8 car and the other being the turbo market is huge here. My opinion...no other source here. I think in Europe the S4 will come with 2 engine options.

So if the Euro V8 has 340/360hp what will the 2.9TT have? Will Audi give equal HP for each motor or will they allow the V8 to have 40-50hp more than the 2.9TT?

If this is the case, would a 2.9TT S4 with 300HP be worth your while? Would you take the chance of chipping knowing Audis take on modifications?

And with all this going on, how does it look to some of you knowing that the 270HP W8 Passat will be coming with a 6spd at the end of the year? Would you think of going that route at all?

I think simply having two completely different engine options will be too expensive for Audi ...

the only thing reason I don't see 2.9TT coming is that... for all those models (A4. A6. TT), they share engines.

1.8T, 2.8, 2.7TT (A4/S4/RS4)
1.8T (TT)
2.8, 2.7TT, 4.2 (A6)
2.7TT (Allroad)

So, if S4 was meant to have 2.9TT, I would expect some rumor about A6/Allroad also getting the 2.9TT sometime. But yet, there's no words about it at all.

Or just a stronger engine above the 3.0. Kind of like the A6: 3.0, 2.7TT, 4.2. Audi has options I guess. Who really knows?
