You never think it would happen to you, then it does...I'm so sad. Dealer called and said at least one of the noises was a bad wastegate on the turbo and was going to order the replacement of both.
Anyways, it'll be a couple of weeks before the turbos get shipped in, so I get to drive it around in a handicapped state until then.
Any suggestions of things I should consider having done? My extra cash flow is almost all spent after Christmas, so unless the dealer will comp the price of new K03's I don't think new turbos are an option. I don't suppose anyone had turbos replaced under warranty, but had the dealer install K04's instead, paying for only the price difference?
Anything else that can be done easily in conjunction with a turbo replacement? DP's, Bipipe, hoses? Do they pull the motor out to get to the turbos, or get at it from the bottom? If the pull the motor, I would definitely consider RS4 pressure plate/clutch if most of the labor is free.

Original Post

I think more and more people would actually have a look of excitement (as opposed to horror) after hearing that their turbos were blown. Hmm. I woul dbe willing to pay the difference. =-)

That is the "official" replacement method.
Some folks down in TX said that they have a local Audi tech at one of the dealers who has replaced the turbos without pulling the engine, but I don't think you can expect that to happen at every dealer.
