Default Did the throttle adaption for the APR chip and didn't really

notice the difference. The acceleration is smooth in 1st, when i get her into 2nd at full throttle, the acceleration isn't as smooth. It feels like it's pulling hard but then it backs off and then pulling hard again. All this happens within fractions of a second. This only seems to occur from 2800 to 4000 rpms. She also does it in third gear slitghly, but the rest of the gears rock. Its not a bucking, hesitating or lag sensation. This is not an intermitent thing, I noticed the sensation when i first put it in but i got such a good deal i couldn't pass it up. The only thing done to the car has been the chip(APR). The ecu hasn't had the upgrade from apr yet. Does this upgrade solve the problem and has anyone w/apr chips experienced this same situation. Or am i just being overly sensitive.

If anyone has gone through this or know what it could be please give me your 2 cents. Could changing to the bailey valves smooth it out, i just don't know at this point. Thanks to everyone in advanced for your input.

Default Most common probs...

1. Check the TBB. It's symptoms can be very minor at first, and kinda intermittent (although usually consistent).
2. If you feel a blip (or dip) in power at 4000rpm, it's the cam timing switching. There are only two modes, on and off, and it makes the switch at 4K rpm.
3. Bailey valves might also help smooth things out. Not many folks have a lot of experience with these yet. I've only heard good things, however.<p>Corey S

Default Did you do a pull-the-plug adaption or a VAG adaption?

Default How hot is it where your at.....(more)

My APR chip did the same exact thing(I have no other mods beside a K&N). 2 weeks ago I put the stock ECU back in and acceleration smoothed out(like butter). I increase my octane from 92 to 93.5 and put the APR back in. Made all the difference...not only did the car feel and sound stronger with the Stock ECU....but the APR feels incredible. Super smooth and strong. The car feels like it did several months ago on a 60F night(wow)...only its been HOT as hell here 90's and up during the day(SoCal).

Default It has been real hot in CT, I did check the tbb, ok, did the adaption...

with the vag-com tool with vwtools software. RCSF, how long did you have the stock ecu in for before switching back to the APR? All in all, at least i'm not the only one with this problem.

My apr chipped s4 does the same...powerband feels like it has peaks and hesitations, the most noticeable occurs at 3,000 rpm. My experience has been that when I did a VAG tool adaptation, things smoothed right out, but the improvement was short-lived-within a week the thrill was gone and I am back to lumps and bumps. Premium (92) gas, no torn tbb, etc. I may go back to stock soon because it was more enjoyable (though slower) to drive.
