Default Disabling drive-by-wire by pulling a fuse? (x-post from B6 forum)

Has anyone tried this on the B5? Lately, I've taken notice of the DBW in action, and it's rather annoying. Any fuses to pull? What about a VAG solution?

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4b6/msgs/170387.phtml</a

Default No, just drive-by-wire. The lag associated with on/off throttle is DBW, I think.

It would be nice to eliminate that or at least lessen the delay somehow.

I've seen lots of discussion here on removing fuses to disable ABS, ESP, etc. But I don't recall anyone ever focusing on DBW.

Default How would it be possible to disable DBW? It's not like it's an added feature...

There is no cable in there as a backup or something...

Unless you mean that the ECU won't run off torque request, and instead just do straight up throttle position or something?

Default Disabling ESP is not like disabling DBW. Just as BTWRX said, you'd have to rig up a throttle cable

or recalculate how the car delivers its throttle.

Default

No clue - just wondering. If we can't disable it, I wonder whether we can VAG it to be sharper.

Default Okay - any ideas on how to recalculate? VAG it somehow?

I'd like to lessen the delay.

Default Does everyone experience this delay? Can't say I've noticed it

Other than turbo log obviously - this is just a delay in the input? Maybe try an MBC solo or something, that might at least make it feel more responsive...

Default It's very slight, but I can feel it compared to cable throttle cars. M-box cars also have

very un-linear throttle response.

Default Try tooling along in second, off-throttle. Then, give it maybe 1/4 throttle

and see how long it takes for the car to actually accelerate. It's only a half-second delay, but it is noticeable. Try the same thing going off-throttle from about 1/4 throttle. You have to be looking for it, but lately I've been noticing it, and it's irritating.
