Do Abt, GIAC or APR produce boost in first gear?

I just got a boost gauge installed and driving around I noticed that I am in vacuum throughout first gear and boost only starts building in second.
Is this the function of the stock ECU or something else? I am planning on chipping my car soon and am curious to know if any of the aftermarket chips produce boost in first gear.

Yes it makes boost. You'll find (with the gauge) that you are not in boost as much as you thought you were during your normal daily drive.

Gauge never gets out of vacuum. It is definitely odd to truly know what the car is doing. Didn't know the car wasn't in boost so much. Trying to get into boost all the time is just a ticket waiting to happen.

It seems like you don't make boost in first gear becuase the rpms rise very quickly becuase it's such a steep gear. So basically the rpms rise faster than the turbos can spool up. So unless you're at WOT above say 4,000 rpm you probably won't notice much boost.

Damn I am getting 1.2 bar measured on the Vag at 4500ish rpms but not in 2st gear. By the way the 1.2 bar in 2nd gets A LOT of HOLY CRAPS from new drivers.
