Default Re: ko3/ko4 hybrids are not considered "new"

I did not know, I bought them for him as new, that is how is was marketed to me by this individual, I now know better! He pushed them on me at the shop I was doing some repairs at, I did not seek them out he sought me out, and then wanted me to tell him everything I was going to do so he could do it to his own tip Allroad!

I guess my car was his experiment!

Default Re: he does have a much lower AID than you ;-)

What is AID? Honestly I read both sites but post most on AZ because of the format. Easier to follow when time is short. I am here to inform, I really doon't think that Borg Warner will warranty a bastardized setup such as the KO3/KO4 hybrid, I deal with companies all the time I can bet the response will be that "the product was used in a manner inconsistant with it's design" or something like that. BTW I did not build them I bought them for him as a complete unit! Build quality is still his problem!

He doesn't know **** about the products he sells, he has admitted that, if you knew him you would know that and you would also know he does not do swaps. He just supplies parts, sometimes at a good price, that is not in dispute.

Default am i hearing you right?????

you think that the temp. bulb in the turbine wheel is designed to "melt" and break at a certain temperature? That bulb in the shaft is used to control heat from the turbine side to the compressor side. Think of how hot it would have to get in the turbine housing to melt the inconel and steel shaft.

Look at his pictures, the shaft broke well below that bulb.

"when the wheel comes off the cold side stops spinning so abruptly that the lock nut comes off" The shaft nut just doesn't fly off because the shaft is no longer atached to the turbine head. You will see a number of K03's who have lost their shaft nut but it is because either the bearings have worn to the point of shaft wobble, or because the turbine wheel lost a fin causing horrible out of balance. The vibration from out of balance will then cause the shaft nut to back off. When the head of the turbine wheel comes off, unless the compressor wheel hits the housing, it is not going to come to a complete stop all of the sudden. It's going to slow down quickly but that doesn't mean the shaft nut is going to just pop off.

I'm not saying for sure what happened one way or another. As on AZ i just stated what i could see from the pictures. That was just some missinformation i thought needed to be cleared up.

I wish I bought from you, your reputation precedes you. I don't have a clue who did his fabrication, one thing I'm sure of is it was not him! I believe the CHRA's were unfortunately just a bad set, not really much you can do about that. My problem was the reaction to that report by me to him, and the subsequent conversations.

I did not think the bulb thing sounded correct but I was not sure.

Thank you for always giving me a straight answer.
