Do you think I can hit 1/4 in 13.8 with Milltek Exhaust & forge valves and 120pound MAN in a car?

Default OKOK here is the secret to dragstrip heat soak

after the run drive up to the hose and let the car ide while you run cold water over the intercoolers for about 5 minutes then park the car in the line up with the hood up. You can also put ice on the intake and spray light mist on the intake and engine valley as well.

Default I've done tests with an A4....

it was Larry Sr. supercharged A4. We had the laptop running and read temps from that and we had an external temp sensor going at the same time. We weren't drag racing, just driving around. I don't remember our exact numbers, but I know the A4 incooler wasn't bringing the intake temps down at idle....ONLY driving the car could do that. I realize an S4 has 2 intercoolers and most likely an overall better cooling system. But I don't know for sure. I'm just sharing my data with you. It was a hot day..probably 85 degrees out when we took out data.

Default doesn't idling for an extended period of time leave carbon deposits into your engine?

I thought that is why people are so again remote starters, because the tendency is to start you rcar and let it idle to warm up. And over-idling causes carbon deposits to accumulate. This is regurgitated info, nothing I'm saying is true. I am just curious.

Default Intercoolers are not primary cooling on any car!!

You checking intercooler temp is not the right parameter! The intercooler is designed to cool intake chage temperature, thereby offering the engine a cooler (read more dense) charge, which can then allow the engine to mix more fuel with the added air, therefore making more HP.

The intercoolers job is not to cool the motor, but to cool the intake charge. This 10-40 degree average cooling obviously brings down the engine temperature a bit, but this is not the purpose of an intercooler, nor is it that significant.

An intercooler will also offer almost zero cooling at a stand still, as the car is not moving and air is not beng pushed through the IC's. So your tests are not truly scientific.

I also find your comparison pretty poor. A guy writes in to ask how to get the best 1/4 mile times out of his S4, and you genericaly comment that idling doesn't cool a hot engine between runs. Your experience does not come from an S4, but an A4, and a supercharged one at that. Now, your comparing an A4 with one less and two smaller cooling fans, a smaller oil pan, a smaller radiator, without an oil cooler and with one intercooler, all on a heavily modified (supercharged) A4, to a stock motored S4. All of this and you have done no tests at a drag strip? Come on!

This is like saying that adding a chip to an S4 isn't hoing to gain you 60-70 hp, because it didn't do so on a 1.8T A4.

Apples to Apples, Oranges to Oranges, please.

Default Car runs 13.0's in the 1/4 and 170+ mph. I'd say the combustion chamber's clean!

I run 100 octane exclusively and I also run techron through the car every 2000 or so miles.

Fresh carbon doesn't last long at full throttle runs either.

You have a nice diet plan for your S4. I think I might have to throw a little 105 in this weekend.
