Just to name a few differences. Warranty longer on A4. Suspension sportier on A4. Doorlocks are quieter/silent on A4. Dash is nicer. Vanity mirror is smoother when opening. The moonroof switch is better on A4. Dash lighting is red and not blue. Trip computer has more features and not just dummy lights. I could go on ..
The only thing the Passat has is that it is larger interior.

The 4Motion system used in the Passat is the same quattro IV system on A4s ... the 4Motion moniker is simply a marketing/branding tool.
In fact, the B5 A4 and Passat are built from the same platform, with identical mechanicals (30-valve 2.8 V6) and similar chassis elements, though the Passat is slightly longer and softer sprung.
