Passat 4Motion = quattro IV = Torsen ... TT quattro = Golf/Jetta 4Motion = Haldex

They are not te same: TORSION for A4/S4 - HALDEX for 4-Motion

wrong, passat 4motion = torsen, golf 4motion = haldex

4motion and quattro are just name brand things now...system is dependent on platform.

Sorry ... not on the Passat, which is Torsen.

Take the unibodies off a Passat and B5 A4 and the cars are damn near identical. All mechanical aspects are the same (engine, drivetrain, etc.) and suspension designs are shared, thought they have their own spring rates and damper settings. The Passat chassis is slightly longer than the B5 A4, but that's the only difference (including whatever components needed to be adjusted for the additional wheelbase). Most importantly, the Passat awd system is the EXACT SAME quattro IV (read: Torsen) system used in the A4.

4Motion awd systems on the A4 platform -- Golf/Jetta/TT etc -- are Haldex
