Does Carmax tend to pay higher than trade in for used cars?

Does Carmax tend to pay higher than trade in for used cars?

I'm having trouble sellng my S4 and may need to cut it loose in a week or so. Trade in value is almost $28,000 (according to Edmunds anyway), I don't believe that Carmax could do better than that.

27,000, nearly stock except Sparco pedal, vent boost and toyguy.

My experience is that they'll pay right at or above Blue Book trade-in

Which is better than *most* dealers, but still worse than a private sale.
