Does the dealer really charge $1100 for valve cover gasket replacement? WTF?

Default Does the dealer really charge $1100 for valve cover gasket replacement? WTF?
From my searches here, this seems to be the common rate. How is that when the gasket is only $25 or so.

its really only an hour or so of work too. i swapped valve covers in under an hour.

Default Is the valve cover gasket made of a rubber material? I saw a picture of it online..
On ecs tuning website, it appears to be made of a sort of rubber material. It looks fairly thick as well. ?

Default Yeah, that's the only way the figure would be even remotely close.
And still, an independent shop would be much cheaper.

So without cam seals, what should it cost for just the valve cover gaskets?
