Does the dealer really charge $1100 for valve cover gasket replacement? WTF?

The seals aren't expensive, but the work to replace them is.
You need to pull the front end and put on the cam locking bar (most of the work to do a timing belt job). Then pull the valve cover and put on the cam tensioner tool so you can remove the tension and lift the tensioner to install the seals underneath it.
Takes much more time than the valve cover gaskets.
