Default does the philips HID bulbs give a more blueish/purpleish beam?

I want to make my lights look more like the benz HID light or the Lincoln VIII or something like that? TIA

Default Don't think the philips will work.

My understanding is the philips hid lights are H7 shaped to fit in non-factory hid housings.

Default S4's? or A4's with factory Xenon?

I know there is a philips hid conversion kit for the A4 NON-Xenon lights. Those housings use the H7 halogen bulb. The philips kit is a special H7 shaped xenon bulb plus a special voltage adapter.

Default Actually, the OEM HID's are more blueish than the Phillips kit, in my experience. (more)

The Phillips kit IS designed to work specifically with a non-Xenon housing, i.e. H7 bulb. While you probably have seen people on the board here with the Phillips kit, they were more than likely A4 owners (like myself) who upgraded to the aftermarket HIDs. I can't see why an S4 owner with OEM Xenons would spend an extra $600 for the Phillips kit.

As far as more "purpley" lights, your best bet would be to keep your OEM HIDs and upgrade to Euro HID housings. Uzanak (a regular on this board and S4 owner) has factory HIDs in his S4 with Euro housings, and those things are like ice blue. I'm talking *really* purple at certain angles. I had a similar experience with my
A4 and my Phillips kit: I originally installed the kit with my factory projector housings, but then a few weeks later added Euro projector housings. My lights, too, are MUCH more purple at the edge of the beam than they used to be. Just to be sure I wasn't imagining things, I parked my car next to my roomate's A4, which also has the Phillips kit but with NA projector housings. Conclusion: The European housings, for whatever reason(s) give off a way more colored line at the top of the beam pattern. If you compare a factory HID kit with the Phillips kit, though, the factory HIDs are still more intensely colored.

So, to make a long story short, you want Euro HID housings, not the Phillips kit, to get the look you want. It'll look better than those orange corners, too .

Euros can be bought at www.pgperformance.com or from A.W.E. tuning, but I can't remember their website...

Default your lights probably are alot more blue than you think..

the look alot more blue / purple from further away than they do to the person driving it(as in another vehicle driving)

try it
gget someone to drive your car for you and you drive in front of them and change distances etc

Default Hehe... after I installed my Euros, we parked the car on a looong straight

low-traffic road and then ran up and down the road to see the lights from different distances. This was more because I was concerned about blinding oncoming cars than anything else, but you should've seen the look on people's faces as my friend and I took turn running down the street and then staring back into the headlights. Must have been quite a spectacle. No one understands enthusiasts... *sigh*

Where can I see this kit? Who sells it? Sounds like a good "fog" lamp replacement!
