Default Does this SAC RS4 Pressure Plate look OK for install?

I've read that they sometimes need to be "reset". I asked the Audi tech at my local dealership about it, and he said it looks fine, but (since it only takes 5 minutes to post on here for a second opinion, but hours to redo it if its not good) I figured I'd ask for your opinions on it before reconnecting the tranny.

Default Looks like it's almost completely reset but not quite. I've definitely seen the spring be more

compressed. Not sure if that much would cause any issues though. I think mat@induktion has pics of an extended and reset sac in his PP. Might compare the two...

Default I agree with Illusive... TJ: Ben, mine needs to go back for adjustment. Car is running but

not how it should be. Got it back from the dealer yesterday. First off, my clutch needs adjustment. For me to start the car, I push down, and then I need to push down even further for it to move into position to turn the key. Then I have a major problem with boost/limp mode. With stock programming the car should run like..well, stock. Nope, 3k rpm boost cuts off and car goes to limp mode. I dropped it off today at a local Audi shop for him to take a look. From what I gathered during STFA, its a N75 problem. We'll see. I thought you needed to finish your car up by Tuesday?! You are still truckin' man. From the 3 or so seconds of "full Stage3- boost" I've felt, I almost soiled myself. I can't wait to see the car run like it should again. Sorry for the novel, nice clutch BTW. ;p

So... since my dealership says they can't do it (don't have the press required), how can I do this?

Default 2nd. Mine looked just like that when I received it - the little green springs....

....should be fully compressed (as dscottjr is alluding to). Remember that the SAC ring itself is just plastic, so be very gentle when resetting it.

See this link - this guy saved me from making the same mistake:

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/2090921.phtml</a

Default Yeah, yesterday WAS my deadline... stupid little BS like this keeps delaying me, I'm not happy.

My dad left Tuesday morning and won't be back until after I have to leave for school. So, from here on out, I'm doing this solo with limited knowledge and experience... and, as of today, I still have my motor and tranny sitting on my garage floor. Sucks.

On a positive note, glad to hear it sounds like they are making some progress on your S :-)

Default See link in my message above - at your own risk!

I wedged the floor jack under one of the main beams in the basement.

Then send a note of thanks to 'kaiser' for having the ***** to try such an improvised means of compressing the pressure plate.

Default What other options do I have?

The garage I'm using is not my house, and I don't feel comfortable using any of the wooden beams in their basement (or anything else in their house for that matter) as a makeshift press. The Audi techs at my local dealership say they've never done anything like this before and don't have the tools needed.

So... who would be able to do this for me?
