I loved that GTI...so much fun, but I'm more than happy w/ the S now...

Thanks. Standalone engine management helps keep the clutter to a minimum. =)

Default Just wondering if there is any reason you didn't go w/ a 2.0T instead, other than you got a deal on

the jetta? Everything you did looks great but since it obviously took a lot of work, would it have been more worth it to go w/ the 2.0 or are there other issues that make it significantly more complicated?

Default Do you mean the new 2.0T with FSI? If so....answers within...

Tuning an FSI engine with standalone is far beyond my tuning knowledge and capability. Furthermore, installing one of those engines with the stock Motronic would probably be an even larger undertaking.

Finally, ABA blocks are at junkyards for ~$50 and the 16v heads can be had for even less. So overall, with a fully forged bottom end and beefed up head, the cost was not that bad to have an engine capable of 600hp.
