Default Drive terrain getting sloppy... ideas on which mount/bushing that has gone bad?

My 2k S4 w/ 120k on it has become sloppy when pressing and releasing the gas. For example, when I accelerate in first and release the pedal all together, I feel something under me clunk and the shift *** will jump. I am unsure if this is a motor/tranny mount or a rear diff bushing. I recently replaced the snub mount with an apr one. I appreciate any ideas. Also if you all think it is a mount/bushing does anyone have any leads as to where to pick them up on the cheap?

Default Sounds like it could be the rear diff mount. I experienced the same...

and replaced the stock mount with a stiffer poly mount and it took the clunk away completely. Unfortunately, in my car, the stiffer mount produced a lot of vibration so I ended up going back to a new OEM mount. The vibration was worse than the clunk to me - although I think the vibration is vehicle specific (others who have this mount say they felt no vibration).

It's easy enough to check the mount and see if it's worn - that's where I'd start.

I've also heard of snub mounts not being seated properly...

Do our cars have a single rear diff mount or two? (I've never looked)

Did you do the swap yourself? If so did you have to yank the axles and drive shaft to drop the pumpkin? Or were you able to do the swap just by lowering it a bit?

Default It's really easy...

Just put the car up on stands, use your jack to support the rear diff at the crossmember, and unbolt about 6 bolts. I played around with mine enough (to try to solve the vibration issue) that I could probably swap one in 10 minutes...and I'm not overly mechanically inclined.

I believe the mounts are liquid filled, so if you see something purple oozing out, the mount is definitely shot.

From the Tech articles

Default The rear diff mount busing can often take a dump, and that would increase the "clunking"..

feel you experience in the shifter and under the car. This is a great option for replacement, at roughly the same cost as the stock mount. It's durometer was selected so as to not increase vibrations while eliminating the slop in the drive-line...
