Driver side CV boot is torn pretty bad

I found a shop that rebuilds whole shaft ($75) w/ great warranty then my indy shop installs ($140)

Default Roughly, yes. But like Dave said, the boot kit is a VERY messy job. If you can swing the cost of a

new axle, I'd do that. You're going to eventually end up doing anyway, when your CV bites the dust. Save yourself the trouble.

Default I found a couple posts about troubles with EMPI products in general...

and another vendor I spoke to recommended I keep my oem axles to rebuild if I bought anything from China. So, I'm a little nervous about how long these will last.

why would the CV bite the dust? Just replace what's broken.
