Default Driveshaft Differences in Model Year

I've been having ongoing driveshaft issues after having my original shaft replaced with a rebuilt unit (bad CV at tranny side) The first rebuilt unit howled like a banshee and was sent back. The 2nd rebuilt unit is better, but there is some vibration and still some noise. Playing with the center bearing fore/aft, side/side, and up/down(shims) helps but I can't get it just right.

The two rebuilt shafts that were sent to me look different (different U-joints) as seen in the pic below. My car is an early 2000 S4 (6 speed) for which I provided the VIN to the company who rebuilt it. Does Anyone know which shaft is correct for the car? Can anyone offer any advice on adjusting to rid of noise/vibrations? Thanks in advance!

Steve

Default Lets see:

I took out the old one, my front CV was a rattlebox.

The new one was hard to get lined up onto the diffs, but I finally managed. I put my shims into place on the bushing, and aligned it up in the middle like Bentley says. And that was it.

I don't think there are any tips in there. Did PowerTrain send you two different driveshafts?
