Can anyone suggest some good driving routes around
westchester county? Some twisty stuff through
hills and forests would be nice...somewhere off the beaten track where cops are scarce. I work in white plains and often go for a quick spin in the country. My favourite roads currently lie near the kensco dam and resevoir, but I'm still searching for the holy grail.
Thanks in advance.
Have car, will travel.

I have lived in Tarrytown/Elmsford for the last 28 years and I know all the curves. Check these out.
Check out route 120/120a off 22 north of white plains. Park lane off of 120 south is also nice. If you want to really have some fun you will need to drive a bit. Route 133 and 129 off 9a over by Croton on Hudson are great when you go east. Route 100 North off the Taconic at Milwood is a blast. Also check out Old Sleepy Hollow road in Tarrytown, Nannyhagen road in Valhalla, and 448 in Pocantico. If you want some more you can write me.

You will have to drive at least 30 minutes from White Plains to get to 2 lane section of the Taconic which doesn't start until Route 202 in Yorktown. If you want a twisty local parkway try the Bronx river parkway in the evening. Pick it up at the Sprain Parkway split and go north. Or try the Hutch or the Merritt (my favorite) if you want some high speed touring fun.

Unless the did something to the roads in the past 5 years, watch out for icy spots in that area of south Putnam Cty.
