Hey, does the Tiptronic chip, the one that increases shift times, remove the rev limiter thing. You know when you power brake, (Correct term?) and hold down the brake and apply gas, does the chip remove the 2300 or whatever RPM limit thats on it? I'd like to get to 3000 RPM or so, but that would probably damage the engine, maybe I should stay away from that, heh.
- Tim Reibling

aparently, GIAC has two tip chips. The regular one simply avoids the car hunting and the “race” chip speeds up shifting. All the characteristics of the tip are still there...same 1st to 2nd shift, it’ll still shift if you hit the redline in tip mode (you can’t over rev the car). I’ve noticed more of the dreaded CLUNK more lately and am a bit concerned. It may simply be that I’ve been driving around slower areas and had more opportunities for it but it really pisses me off. I bet an Acura CL type R doesn’t have the CLUNK in it’s 5-speed sequential. Power braking is still limited to about 2300rpm.
I’m going to check tomorrow if the program I have is in fact the “race” program because my shifting is DEFINITELY faster. I’ll let you know. Some of the rave reviews I’ve given may not be appropriate of the regular tip chip because it’s designed not to be really noticable but to re adjust the automatic to accept the extra power.
I’m also going to ask garrett if he can make a chip which eliminates the 1st to 2nd thing.
