Early impression of GIAC Tipchip with L10 trans
Just picked up my car tonite after getting APRs kit installed. I opted to get the Tipchip finally and I was surprised at how many of the nuances I was seeing with the stock TCU disappear. As a matter of fact, during the entire 45 minute ride home, I experienced NONE of the previous issues. Shifts are quick and crisp; no crazy gear engagements; though I didnt test the 2-1 downshift issue in Tip mode.
As for APR stage III...well, I can finally say I understand all the OMG WAFFLES HOLY **** I WENT STAGE III AND THIS CAR IS A TRAIN NOW threads.

My Torque Converter is on the way back from PI now...
My motor is entirely built.
What remains:
Reinstall motor and accessories.
Reinstall torque converter.
Reinstall transmission.
Install Achtuning oil cooler.
Repair RS4 Seat electronics.
Install RNS-E System.
Tune.
Tune more.
Never take the damned thing apart again!

My impressions from stage II+ GIAC Tip Chip with level ten
talked to sam at level 10 and he said all my findings were normal and to not worry about them
1)2-1 downshift clunk
2)in D 5-4 downshift clunk
3)P-d Downshift clunk
he said not to let off gas during shifts, don't shift from 2-D when slowing to avoid clunk.
apparently the above will mess with drive line pressures and confuse the ECU//TCU
I really have no idea, I'm a tip tranny noob, but I listen to those with more experience than myself
ps I have only TC and VB from L10 not whole tranny
