Which is the easier / cheaper DIY? Outer CV joint alone or whole axle with 2 new joints?

For $25-50 more and way easier and cleaner, changing the entire axle is a no-brainer.

what's the rundown of how to do it, supposing it's the right that you are replacing up front.
