Default Easy way to tell if synchro has gone bad?

Need a way to test if the synchro has gone bad, but not entirely sure. Don't want to have to go through the trouble of the dealer if I don't have to...

Default I've been having trouble rowin' from 1st to 2nd gear...

but only when I'm in chip mode. If I take 1st to redline and try to shift into 2nd quickly, and I mean jammin', then I tend to grind pretty bad. But if I think about shifting, then I don't. Could it be that I just don't have the rowin' skillz? Please don't tell me so! I've seen a few posts suggesting that my synchro has gone bad, but I just can't believe it after only 25K miles, AND I can shift from 3rd to 2nd no problem-- no grindage. What gives?!

Default could be snychro then, but be carefull of the clutch, 1-2 is the hardest shift in my opinion

realize that 1 and 2 and most likely the most frequently used gears, and also because of the short ratios, are hardest on the car esp first...also 2nd is 85% taller than 1st.

Default How would it be that the synchro would only affect upshifting from 1st --> 2nd?...

And not the downshift? I feel like I have to FORCE the gear in, in order to achieve maximum power. But, I also have to keep in mind that I could just not be depressing the clutch all the way in time for my shift, but even I find it hard to believe that I could shift faster than the clutch could activate (or be clear of the gear change...) HELP!
Perhaps the fact that I just installed a Tanoga SS isn't helping me?

Default watch the clutch...

I sometimes grind when shifting from 1-2, but that's because by the time I'm in 2nd, my foot is already off the clutch. Yeah, on Audis you can generally shift with the clutch only 30% pressed, but it's not a good idea. Make sure the clutch is fully depressed when running that shifter through the gears.

Your synchro is probably fine. How many miles do you have?

Default so then no worries -

Just watch your clutching and de-clutching (is that a word?) action. You wouldn't want to grind or miss a gear during a track day!
