Need a way to test if the synchro has gone bad, but not entirely sure. Don't want to have to go through the trouble of the dealer if I don't have to...

but only when I'm in chip mode. If I take 1st to redline and try to shift into 2nd quickly, and I mean jammin', then I tend to grind pretty bad. But if I think about shifting, then I don't. Could it be that I just don't have the rowin' skillz? Please don't tell me so! I've seen a few posts suggesting that my synchro has gone bad, but I just can't believe it after only 25K miles, AND I can shift from 3rd to 2nd no problem-- no grindage. What gives?!

realize that 1 and 2 and most likely the most frequently used gears, and also because of the short ratios, are hardest on the car esp first...also 2nd is 85% taller than 1st.

And not the downshift? I feel like I have to FORCE the gear in, in order to achieve maximum power. But, I also have to keep in mind that I could just not be depressing the clutch all the way in time for my shift, but even I find it hard to believe that I could shift faster than the clutch could activate (or be clear of the gear change...) HELP!
Perhaps the fact that I just installed a Tanoga SS isn't helping me?

I sometimes grind when shifting from 1-2, but that's because by the time I'm in 2nd, my foot is already off the clutch. Yeah, on Audis you can generally shift with the clutch only 30% pressed, but it's not a good idea. Make sure the clutch is fully depressed when running that shifter through the gears.
Your synchro is probably fine. How many miles do you have?
