"up to 25,000" or what ever you are pre-approved for, and it is a valid bank check. I write it for 17,000, then my loan starts monday for 17,000.

and wouldn't that be a signature loan instead of a loan on the car? it seems like she got a loan for the car itself.
odd though...i've sold many cars...25 at least. When a bank puts out a loan on a car, the want the title in exchange for the check and they want to see the car. at least thats what i've seen. (though i have sold cars to unsavoury people in the past)

and if you buy a 5,000 dollar car for like 24,000 dollars they will make the portion of the loan not secured by the car (in this case 19,000) I have never had a problem with a seller accepting it, because there is a number on the back to call and verify the check
