Their suspension components are grossly overpriced (control arms, tie rod ends and whatnot). Their shipping department is horrible. Between me and my friends we've had the following incidents.
#1 sent out wrong O2 sensor, didn't want to pay for the return shipping and took too long to send replacement ~2 wks
#2 gave confirmation of an arrival date. Package didn't arrive till 4 days later because they didn't mention that the snub was on backorder and delayed the entire shipment (even though my friend stated that he needed it by that friday).
#3 Sent out banjo bolts without copper washers. Told us that they weren't going to ship out the washers since they're a $.10 part even though we paid for them. Finally got them to send it, turns out banjo bolt and washers were incorrectly sized. Took 1 month to resolve.
#4 Friend ordered "in stock" stage II V2 brake kit. Said it would ship within two days. Kept on delaying . . . . kit wasn't shipped out until three weeks later even though with every single call they said that all the components were in stock and that the kit just needed to be packaged together. Upon arrival, the brake components were poorly packaged and showed scuff marks from contacting each other.
#5 Friend ordered 1.8t timing belt kit. Temp gauge erratic . . . . faulty CHEAP wahler thermostat that ECS uses in their kit. Purchased a new one from VW to get the car going. ECS refused to reimburse him for the faulty part.
#6 Friend purchased motor mounts. Turns out were cheap Hamburg Technic mounts. Failed within 4 months. ECS declined replacement. Purchased new Meyle S4 mounts from www.stopshopanddrive.com
There are a few other stories but ECS is the prime example of a company which has gone horribly bad with growth.

They went the extra step to ship them out late the day I called, so it saved me next day air (I was able to use 2 day air).
The box arrived as expected, and the packing was very good. Granted it was 2 boxes in another box, but there was plenty of paper in there to keep the boxes from sliding around.
I was pleased.

The guys at ECS jump through hoops to fix shipping errors by refunding money, shipping overnight, etc. I can only imagine how well they'd do after firing the one bad apple they have in the shipping/packing room.
