Default ECU and Mileage question.

I got about 21k on my odometer. Suppose I buy a spare chipped ECU and I drive it around a while. If I swap The ECUs for service and put in my stock ECU, will it return to 21k??

And If I do swap ECUs, is there any way for service to know that I was chipped?

TIA

Default No it won't change the mileage. and for #2 the only way they would tell basically is when they see

a code for power being disconnected from the ECU.

Default First Question, no...

Second Q, yes and no
If you want to go undetected, you need to erase a low voltage code thrown if power to the ECU is lost.

Default Is the low voltage code enough basis for them to refuse do the service under warranty?

and can the code be erased with the vag tool?

Default Mileage will stay the same, but

there is some question as to whether or not any method (even switching ECU's) is a foolproof method of keeping the dealer from finding out that you are chipped.

There was a post a while back suggesting that you drive for at least twenty minutes three times with the stock ECU before going to the dealer. This would imply that there is some stored data somewhere other than the ECU. I have no idea whether or not this is fact or fiction. Besides, what if you were unable to drive the car for some reason such as an accident.

You should certainly clear the codes when switching ECU's as there is always a power loss code thrown from the swap. It is also useful to do a throttle body adaptation. You need a VAG tool for both of these.

Bottom Line: turbos sometimes fail and if the dealer finds out that you are chipped, they will not pay for new ones.

Default We use plug in ( hard to explain exactly) batteries with a cig lighter adapter

when changing car batteries to save all settings, wouldn't this keep the code away? I am also going to ask my buddy at work. since we have all the factory tools, He can "DO" all these tests and tell me what happens. since we get the cars first!!!
